Mt Lemina Kameswa United Football Club gets support from Mt Lemina Lodge

The Mt. Lemina Kameswa United Rugby Football Club, affectionately known as KMW Storms within the Mendi community, celebrated a momentous occasion last weekend at the Mt. Lemina Lodge in Mendi, Southern Highlands, as they proudly unveiled their new jerseys.

The presentation was attended by the team, their families, the supportive community, the Mendi Rugby League committee, team officials, former rugby league legends from the community, and the Mt. Lemina Lodge family and sponsor.

This significant event, held at the team’s major sponsor’s venue, marked a milestone in both the team’s journey and the sponsor’s commitment.

Mt Lemina Lodge, a locally owned establishment nestled in the vibrant fabric of Mendi, has generously sponsored the team since its inception and has remained steadfast in its support.

Mr. Bartholomew Yacop, Managing Director of Mt. Lemina Lodge, expressed his deep commitment to nurturing the region’s youth.

“Supporting our youth goes beyond fostering talent on the field; it’s about cultivating leaders, fostering resilience, and creating opportunities for a brighter future,” he remarked. “By investing locally in teams like Kameswa United, we’re not only nurturing athletic talent but also instilling values that resonate far beyond the realm of sports.”

As a local businessman, Mr. Yacop understands the transformative power of sports in guiding young lives towards positive trajectories. “Our aim is clear: to reduce law and order issues, build confidence among outside investors, and pave the way for sustainable growth and development in Mendi,” he emphasized. “Through initiatives like this, we’re not just sponsoring a team; we’re investing in the fabric of our community, ensuring that every youth has the opportunity to thrive.”

For the Kameswa United team made up of the four villages Kumin, Wa, Mes and Kambeyakipu, the partnership with Mt. Lemina Lodge signifies more than just sponsorship; it’s a beacon of hope and opportunity for every player, supporter and member of the community.

President of the Mendi Rugby Football League, Mr. Philip Moya, further emphasized, “There’s a way out for our youth, and Mount Lemina Lodge is leading the charge to empower our youth to live meaningful lives, both on and off the field. With their support, we’re not just chasing victories; we’re building a legacy of resilience, unity, and pride.”

As Mt. Lemina Lodge is currently rebranding and taking the opportunity to evolve and introduce a fresh new concept that aligns with industry trends, the jerseys bearing the original logo would be cherished throughout the season, showcasing the enduring partnership between the club and its sponsor. With the support of this local powerhouse, Kameswa United is looking forward to unveil Mt. Lemina Lodge’s new identity on the field in the grand final, embodying excellence and community empowerment.
