“Exporting PNG Talent and Culture through the modelling and fashion industries are a shared vision amongst PNG Fashion & Design Week Ltd (PNGF&DW) and DFM Model Agency,” says Managing Director of DFM Model Agency Miss Leilani Konjib.

In order to capture this vision, DFM Model Agency recently announced the signing of an official partnership with PNG Fashion & Design Week Ltd to assist in this year’s 2024 runway.

Under the creative entrepreneurial vision and leadership of Mrs Janet Sios (Managing Director of PNGF&DW), the platform (PNGF&DW) has produced over 800 local designers and has trained over more than 250 local models since its inception in 2016.

Managing Director of DFM Model Agency Leilani Konjib extended her sincere gratitude to Mrs Sios, reflecting on her first ever model runway experience walking for the Lavagirl collection by well-known local designer Annette Sete in 2016.

According to Miss Konjib, her modelling experience has brought her as far as the Miss PNG Pacific Islands Pageant, taking out First Runner-Up and receiving two prestigious awards for Miss Telikom Limited People’s Choice Award and Miss Humanitarian Award in 2022.

Miss Konjib attributes these successes to her experience in the modelling space and to Mrs Sios for her sheer passion and initiative in creating platforms such as the PNGF&DW.

During the signing of the MOU & Official Partnership, Miss Konjib applauded Mrs Sios for her resilience in maintaining the PNGF&DW platform that continues to nurture more youths, women & locals in the modelling, fashion and tourism industry.

“With the shared vision on Exporting PNG Talent & Culture, it is clear that this can be accomplished through the modelling, fashion and tourism industry by collaborating with various key stakeholders, business houses and having government institutions reinvest into females, youths and local entrepreneurs that focus on strategic sustainable development initiatives that align with the vision 2050 and MTDP to look closely into human resource development through workshop trainings, mentorship & peer to peer dialogue and social engagements various events such as the upcoming runway this year,” Miss Konjib said.
